Indian Navy’s oldest Hydrographic Survey Ship ‘INS Sandhayak’ decommissioned

The Indian Navy’s oldest Hydrographic Survey Ship, ‘INS Sandhayak’ retired after serving for 40 years at Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. The ship was decommissioned in low-key event due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The event was happened in the presence of VAdm Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Eastern Naval Command, the Chief Guest for the ceremony. During its 40 years of service, ‘INS Sandhayak’ undertook over 200 major hydrographic surveys in Western and Eastern coasts of the Indian peninsula, the Andaman sea, and surveys in neighbouring countries.
