Demonstrations against the disputed re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko continue in Belarus.
The biggest one yet was held in Minsk, as he rejected calls to step down and hold fresh polls.
At a smaller rally of his own supporters in the capital's Independence Square, Lukashenko said Belarus would "die as a state if it agreed to hold new elections under pressure" and accused NATO of massing on the country's western border.
The nation has been rocked by a week of street protests after demonstrators accused the 65-year-old leader of rigging a presidential election in which he claimed to have secured 80 percent of the votes.
Lukashenko, the only President Belarus had, a man labelled by some as the last dictator in Europe, faces his biggest crisis since coming to power in 1994.
According to local media reports, many major towns and cities also saw large rallies that "dwarfed" the defiant leader's rally.
