President Donald Trump is scheduled to make a "major statement" Sunday morning in the U.S.,... regarding the alleged death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
This... following unconfirmed reports that al-Baghdadi was killed in a raid by U.S. special forces in northwestern Syria on Saturday.
According to Newsweek, the U.S. defense department has informed the White House... they have "high confidence" that the target killed in the operation was the ISIS leader.
It also cited a senior Pentagon official... who said there had been a brief skirmish when American forces arrived at the scene,... and that Baghdadi killed himself with an explosive suicide vest.
As media reports emerged,... Trump tweeted that "something very big" had happened.
