MANILA - It's not over for dismissed Philippine Military Academy cadet Aldrin Jeff Cudia. Cudia's family is set to file a petition at the Supreme Court today, challenging the PMA's decision to remove him from this year's graduating class. The Cudias are also asking the PMA to release their son's diploma and to give him an honorable dismissal. "The purpose of our filing is to clear our name and secure his diploma so that our son can continue his studies," Cudia's father, Renato, told ABS-CBN's "Umagang Kay Ganda." Cudia was dismissed by the PMA for violating the academy’s Honor Code after he allegedly lied about why he reported late by two minutes for a class. Cudia, however, claimed the voting of the Honor Committee that led to his dismissal was rigged. Cudia left the PMA last March 16 after he was disallowed from marching with fellow PMA graduates. Cudia's father said their family kept silent about the matter after President Aquino asked them for a week to resolve the matter. He said they only broke their silence after the Office of the President failed to update them about Aldrin's case. He said the family is now asking the Supreme Court to intervene so that his son can continue his studies. "Nandito po kami ngayon muling kumakatok sa Supreme Court na sana po dinggin po nila etong aming kahilingan para sa aming ana na makapag-aral na po siya ulit," he said. Asked what course his son will take if given an honorable dismissal, he said his son wants to continue his maritime studies. "Ang sabi niya ay parang gusto po niya nalalandas din po dun sa kanyang pinag-aralan dun bilang isang navy din dapat. Sa maritime po sana ang gusto niya," he said. He also said he is bothered by reports that the PMA will demand that the Cudias pay back the P2 million spent on Cudia's education. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has formed a new body to re-investigate Cudia's case.
