Pence: History Will Remember Trump Administration’s Early Days As ‘Days Of Action’

Vice President Mike Pence has said he thinks “the early days of this administration are going be described in the history books as days of action.”
He made the comment recently on ABC News’ 'This Week' after host George Stephanopoulos asked him if their highly criticized immigration order could have “been done better, drafted better?”
Pence also said, “...the American people welcome the decisiveness that President Trump has shown on this issue, putting the safety and security of the American people above the niceties of communicating with people in Washington or in some cases around the world. He acted. He put the safety of the American people first. And I think that's the kind of leadership the American people want to see.”
Despite Pence’s emphasis on Trump’s quick actions, observers have pointed out that the president is following a trend established by his predecessors.
Stephen Griffin, Tulane University Law School professor, told NBC News, “The fact is that each administration, beginning at least with Clinton and really since Roosevelt, has opened with a flurry of executive orders by presidents wanting to make their mark to show they're accomplishing something fast, which is very difficult to do through Congress.”
In fact, the news outlet reports that during his two weeks of office, Trump signed eight executive orders but former President Obama had signed nine.
Griffin said, “People underestimate just how much discretionary power the Constitution gives the president.”
In addition to his controversial immigration order, Trump has issued executive orders relating to the Affordable Care Act, infrastructure projects, and sanctuary cities, among others, notes Business Insider.
He has also signed several presidential memorandums and proclamations such as reorganization of the National Security Council and a recognition of American Heart Month.
