This tiny flying fox, also known as a bat, enjoyed a feed after it was rescued by Batzilla the Bat organisation in Brisbane. The animals can carry a deadly disease known as lyssavirus, which makes them unpopular with humans – but the species is vital to the ecosystem because, like bees, it helps in the pollination process.Flying foxes are attracted to fruit trees but easily become trapped in netting, which is why organisations like Batzilla the Bat are on call to rescue the little creatures, which people are warned not to touch.
