Young girl dies after big gust of wind flings bouncy castle into the air

ESSEX, ENGLAND — Onlookers at a travelling funfair in England watched in horror as strong winds flung a bouncy castle into the air with a young girl trapped inside over Easter weekend.

A girl was killed on Saturday afternoon when a sudden gust of wind blowing at around 25 mph sent a bouncy castle flying across a park in Essex, United Kingdom.

The wind ripped the Toy Story-themed inflatable structure from its moorings while 7-year-old Summer Grant was playing alone inside. The bouncy castle then flew over nearby rows of caravans and trailers and was blown 150 metres — approximately the width of three American football fields — before it landed near a fence, reported the Guardian.

The young girl was rushed to a local hospital, where she died a few hours later due to multiple critical injuries.

According to the Guardian, a man and woman working for the family-run bouncy castle company have been arrested by local police on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence.
