The born name pf Pervez was Pervez Akhtar. At his young age, he started learning Sitar Playing under the guidance of Ahmad Qureshi, a Radio Pakistan, Lahore employee. Later, he became disciple of Khan Saheb Mehdi Hassan, a legend. With the permission of Mehdi Hassan, he opted the name Pervez Mehdi. He did strenuous efforts to learn the art of Ghazal Singing and recognized a great exponent of this art. He born to a singing family. His father name: Bashir Hussain Rahi. Born in 1947 and died on 29 August 2005 due to a fatal heart arrest. This year 2015, this is his 10th Death Anniversary. Pervez my very close friend and we call him PEJI. He was, rather, like my family member. Government of Pakistan awarded him a prestigious Award: Sitara-e-Imtiaz (A star of music with brilliance). I MISS HIM EVERY DAY.
