Chinese new year celebrations in Newcastle upon Tyne. The sequence begins with a short clip of the Hoi Gong (eye-dotting ceremony) in which the spirit of the new chinese lion is awakened by having its eyes painted on. This is followed by shots of various dragon and lion dances around the busy streets of Newcastle's chinatown district.
