A Chinese student was beaten to death by his teacher during a math class in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong on June 23.

Parents of the 13-year-old received an emergency call from the school on Monday morning. They were told that their son, Huang Pi-Guang (黃丕廣), a fourth grader at Bei Zai elementary school in Leizhou City, was playing with other students during class before the tragedy occurred.

Huang allegedly talked back to the teacher, surnamed Chen, who became infuriated and slapped the boy across the face, causing him to pass out.

Shocked classmates who witnessed the incident said the teacher then delivered several punches and kicks to Huang's head and body.

Huang was seen foaming at his mouth, with blood dripping from his mouth and nose. His body shows evidence of multiple strikes.

Police have taken Chen into custody for investigation of Huang's death.
