A 52-year-old KSRTC bus driver died after suffering a cardiac arrest while he was on duty on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. There were 40 passengers on the bus.

Channe Gowda was at the wheels of the KSRTC bus proceeding to Virajpet from Mandya when he suddenly experienced chest pain around 9.15 a.m., said Mr. Mahesh, Divisional Controller of KSRTC, Mysuru.

The bus was approaching Mysuru and Mr. Channe Gowda, who belongs to KSRTC’s Maddur depot, managed to swerve the vehicle to the side and stop before collapsing. “He managed to slow down the bus and eventually stop the vehicle before collapsing on the steering wheel,” Mr. Mahesh said. “The incident occurred close to Columbia Asia Hospital and autorickshaw drivers rushed him to hospital, but in vain,” Mr, Mahesh said.

Senior KSRTC officials visited the hospital and requested the authorities to provide him necessary treatment, but it proved futile, he added.
