A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus driver Rahmatullah, 35, from Chintamani, suffered a massive heart attack while driving a BMTC bus (KA 57-F20) on Wednesday. He was plying the bus on Shivajinagar-Banashankari route when he suffered the attack. However, during the last minutes of his life he cared for his duty and saved passengers by stopping the bus by the road side on time. There were about 50 passengers in the bus.

The attack occurred on the return journey from Banashankari. At a point when Rahmatullah did not move the bus, a puzzled conductor of the bus rushed to driver’s seat to enquire but found Rahmatullah lowered on the steering wheel. He was rushed to a hospital in Wilson Garden where he was declared brought dead; later his body was shifted to Victoria Hospital.

According to BMTC officials, Rahmatullah suffered a massive heart attack. The officials also informed that his wife would be provided employment. Rahmatullah was working with BMTC for nearly a decade. He is survived by four children.
