EU leaders meet in Milan on Wednesday to discuss how they can boost jobs and growth.

There’s a huge split between Germany that wants to keep Germany -which wants keep to spending rigour – and France and Italy which seek more flexibility for their economic policies.

That could overshadow this meeting, which is meant to tackle unemployment.

It is a hot-button issue for Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who came to power on a promise to shake up Italy’s labour market.

More than 44 percent of under 25-year-olds are out of work in Italy, according to official figures: a record number.
