“This is really just a bizarre carjacking incident that ended in a fiery crash. Take a look here behind me what’s left of this SUV.” [Via WJLA]

Prior to the crash, the driver had been sitting in his SUV at an intersection in Landover Hills when another man walked up to him and asked for a ride. The motorist said no and that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

The suspect implied he had a weapon. At that point the driver got out of his vehicle and fled on foot to get away from the other man. The carjacker got right into the SUV and took off.

Eventually, the man crashed, hitting a minivan. He continued driving before plowing into the McDonalds.

The SUV caught on fire but was extinguished not long after. Fortunately no one was inside the restaurant at the time of the accident.

The suspect has been arrested. One unidentified individual was transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries. Building inspectors were called to the scene to assess the damage to the fast food structure.
