You might assume carjackers know how to get out of locked garages with ease. But one recent case proves that’s not always true.

Recently things went very wrong for a man in Chicago, 21-year-old Andre Bacon. He had reportedly snuck into a woman’s garage and demanded that she hand over the keys to her 2012 Honda MDX.

The victim wisely handed Bacon her keys. She then turned and ran out of the garage, but she didn’t forget to close the door behind her. That simple act locked Bacon in the garage.

While the woman called police, the suspect was forced to wait in the garage for the officers. It didn’t take long for law enforcement authorities to arrive.

They opened the garage door and found Bacon inside the Honda, sitting in the driver’s seat. The keys were hanging from the ignition, but at that point, Bacon had absolutely nowhere to go.

Bacon was swiftly apprehended and charged with felony attempted vehicle hijacking. He is now being held on $75,000 bond.
