Ex-Microsoft CEO Ballmer set to buy LA Clippers

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is set to become the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team.

Ballmer won the bidding with a two billion dollar offer,outbidding investors that included by media mogul David Geffen and Oprah Winfrey.

The Clippers came up for same after the National Basketball Association (NBA) banned owner Donald Sterling for life after he made racist remarks in a recorded conversation leaked to entertainment website TMZ.

Sterling, who has said he’d fight the NBA’s punishment, would have to approve the sale.

Ballmer, a long-time bnasketball fan, retired as Microsoft CEO in February.

Last year he was part of a group that unsuccessfully bid on the Sacremento Kings basketball team.
