Brussels: Activists stage reconstruction to urge EU to ensure better protection for immigrants

Lying on the reconstructed beach were four activisits, kicking back nonchalantly on their sun loungers, reading the morning papers and sipping cocktails. In short, a typical summer scene of tourists enjoying their time on the Mediterranean Sea.

Their peace and quiet would not last long, however, as dozons of fellow activists, dressed in black, marched towards the beach and huddled around their now heavily outnumbered colleagues before falling to the ground, drowning in the sea.

These are the dangers they say, which many asylum seekers are faced with in their attempts to cross into Europe from North Africa and the Middle East.
