Security tight in Baghdad as air strikes pound Anbar

Security is tightened in Baghdad Wednesday as heavy clashes between Iraqi forces and Sunni militants continue in Anbar province.

Footage released by Iraq's Defense Ministry shows the government taking the fight to al-Qaeda linked militants who had taken control of part of the province.

But its a fight that can not be won by military force alone says political commentator Adnan Hussein.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) POLITICAL COMMENTATOR, ADNAN HUSSEIN, SAYING :

"The consequences of the military operation depend on how the government will act. If the government depends on the military force, the consequences will be dire. However if the military operations are backed by political efforts, to reach a compromise with the people of Anbar in order to solve the problems, there will be positive results. If the government insists in adopting harsh military measures there cannot be a positive outcome."
