It's one of the biggest air strikes in Iraq since the 2003 invasion.

The US military says it carried out a 10-minute bombardment of suspected al-Qaeda safehavens in the capital.

Thursday's strikes were on farmlands in the Sunni district of Arab Jabour, to the south of Baghdad.

Planes reportedly hit 40 targets. So far there's no word on casualties.
