John Kerry tours typhoon damage in Philippines

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry traveled to Tacloban in the central Philippines Wednesday (December 18) to tour the multi-million dollar relief effort to deliver aid to survivors of super typhoon Haiyan.
Tacloban was the epicenter of the storm which decimated towns and villages on November 8. The storm has killed more than 6,000 people and displaced 4 million.
While the United States has said it does not intend to open new military or naval bases in the region, Kerry discussed ways that the U.S. can help respond quicker during disasters in the region such as Typhoon Haiyan.
Kerry is in the Philippines seeking to modernize economic and political ties with one of America's oldest allies in South East Asia.
