Student wounds two in Virginia college shooting

18-year-old student, Neil MacInnis, has been taken into custody after allegedly wounding two women during a shooting frenzy at New River Community College in western Virginia yesterday. MacInnis, also a student at the college which is located in a shopping mall, entered the campus with what is believed to have been a shotgun. He opened fired, injuring two women.

Students present during the shooting said he entered classrooms and tried to coax students from hiding places, according to local reports. MacInnis was quickly subdued by an off-duty mall security guard and two policemen.

One of the injured women was sent to a hospital; the other was airlifted out. MacInnis has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
