Driving while under the influence is never a wise idea. One woman is lucky to be alive after her car caught on fire.

The lady in Hermon, Maine had decided to drop off some friends after spending the night drinking at a bar in Bangor.

At some point during the cruise, 44-year-old Barbara Willigar became disoriented and drove over a lawn. She lost control of the vehicle and ended up sitting in her car which had burst into flames.

Emergency crews were contacted. The responding police officer stated “She got into someone’s driveway, drove across this guy’s lawn and got stuck. She was spinning her tires in an attempt to get free. She did that to the point the car caught fire and burned.”

Luckily Willigar was not injured, however she was issued a field sobriety test and she reportedly failed.

By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the vehicle, which Willigar had just recently purchased, was destroyed. It had basically melted.

Willigar was taken to the local jail where a follow up test showed her blood alcohol level exceeded the state’s legal limit.
