On June 16, protests against the Agnipath scheme turned violent in several parts of Bihar. Army aspirants disrupted road and rail traffic for the second day in a row. Agnipath is a radical recruitment plan for the armed forces. Protesters set train carriages on fire and disrupted road and rail traffic. Buses were attacked and even stone-pelting was reported. A passenger train was set ablaze at Chhapra in Saran district and tyres were burnt in Nawada. The protesters are demanding the withdrawal of the scheme.
