China typhoon cause massive flooding

Typhoon Fitow caused heavy flooding and uprooted trees in parts of coastal eastern China on Monday (October 7), state media reported.
Typhoon Fitow struck the eastern Chinese coast at around 01:15 AM (1715 GMT Sunday October 6) local time, state broadcaster CCTV said.
Footage carried by CCTV showed houses and fishing vessels damaged by the typhoon.
In Shuitou City of Zhejiang province, residents waded through waist-deep flood waters near the town centre, CCTV said.
Official news agency Xinhua said that several towns were hit with blackouts.
Thousands were evacuated to safety and authorities issued the highest weather alert level before the typhoon hit, Xinhua said.
Flights in several airports across eastern China have been cancelled and high-speed trains from major cities as well as maritime transportation in the region have been suspended, Xinhua said.
