Chile moves ex-Pinochet agents to no-frills jail

Chilean authorities transferred nine agents who worked under dictator Augusto Pinochet from an upscale prison Saturday to a no-frills facility amid anger over their comfortable conditions.

Demonstrators threw eggs and yelled as armored vehicles drove out of the facility.

Earlier that day, the body of former military commander Odlanier Mena was removed from his home by forensic authorities. He died of an apparent suicide.

He was the only one of the 10 agents in the posh prison who was allowed to spend weekends at his family home in Santiago.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera lamented the Pinochet-era commander's death.
