Dozens of security personnel guard the area surrounding an historic church in Pesharwar Pakistan- the site of a deadly suicide attack a day earlier.

At least 78 people were killed when two suicide bombers attacked an Anglican church after Sunday Mass- hundreds more are being treated for their wounds.

Residents- both Christian and Muslim- condemned the incident.

Whether Muslim or Christian-this is barbarity, one man said. We have been trying to help as much as possible.

Indeed, some Muslim residents assisted in a midnight mass burial- helping dig the graves of some of the victims as distraught family members looked on.

A Taliban-linked militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Speaking from London, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the incident will severely hinder attempts to move forward with peace negotiations with members of the Taliban.
