The Gazette is one of the oldest newspapers on the North American continent. Founded by Fleury Mesplet in 1778, it began as a French-language paper. Forty-four years later, we switched.

Since then, we’ve covered the brilliant, the exhilarating, the joyous, the gripping. We’ve had comic genius join our ranks, not to mention living legends of journalism. We’ve covered stories we don’t want to remember, and we’ve covered stories we’ll never forget. Stories that made time stop and touched each of our communities.

The world has changed during our 230 years, but one thing remains the same– the news keeps on coming….and we keep on writing.
