The 66th Cannes film festival got off to a star-studded, albeit rainy, start on Wednesday (May 15). The cast of "The Great Gatsby" walked the red carpet, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. Also attending the opening event were the film fest's jury members, including Nicole Kidman, Ang Lee, and jury head Steven Spielberg. The festival will run through May 26th.

Boy band One Direction has announced a new world tour. The group will go around the world for a 2014 tour. Thirteen stops have been announced so far - eight in Latin America, one in Ireland and four in the U.K. Members tweeted that more dates and additional countries will be announced soon.

Finally, the popular video game "Angry Birds" is jumping off smart phones and onto the big screen. The game will be made into a new animated 3D film due to be released in 2016. The film will be a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Finnish game-maker Rovio. The move follows the game's launch
