For almost 40 years, 54 war heroes of 1971 have been languishing in Pakistani jails. Despite the irrefutable evidence of presence of Indian prisoners of wars (PoW) in Pakistani jails the men who fought for the country left to suffer. According to the Shimla Agreement, India has sent back Pakistani POWs while the neighboring country also sent 632 soldiers. But in 1999, it was found that 54 POWs were still languishing in Pakistani jails.
