Village evacuated after Belgium chemical train fire

A train thought to be carrying chemicals and toxic raw materials en route to the Netherlands from Germany derailed on Saturday (May 4) and caught fire near the Belgian village of Schellebelle.
The governor of Eastern Flanders, Jan Briers, told a local news agency that two people who lived alongside the track were killed and 14 others injured.
Amateur video appears to show a large fire with large plumes of smoke rising in to the night sky.
Belgian authorities evacuated nearly 300 people from their homes after several cars of the train carrying derailed, causing a major fire near the city of Gent.
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. (0000 GMT) between the towns of Schellebelle and Wetteren, said Infrabel, the entity responsible for the Belgian railway network.
The blaze led to a series of explosions in the railway cars prompting authorities to evacuate homes near the site of the accident.
