TOMBECK & BAND - PURE FREUDE

In 2009 the Viennese musician Tombeck released his first studio album called "Mei Herz brennt" ("My Heart is Burning"), which was followed by "Freude" ("Joy") in October 2012. On this new release you can find an exciting mix of various topics in the lyrics and also different styles of music. Besides joy, there´s also space for other emotions too, such as fear, anger and pain. In some songs you are reminded of so called "Austropop", a local singer/songwriter movement which was very popular in Austria in the 70's and 80's. Whereas for instance the song "Schauts hin" ("Take Notice") can be described as classic rock or the last track of the album "Pure Freude" ("Pure Joy") is played in a latin-american rhythm.
Tombeck can´t be pigeonholed, he raises taboo issues in his songs, he picks up what has been blocked out and he encourages. All lyrics are written in Viennese dialect, Tombeck's mother tongue. His band, now renowned for intense live appearances, is formed from experienced musicians known in the Austrian scene: Thomas Mora/bass, Bernhard Krinner/guitar, Valentin Oman/keyboards and Christoph Schödl/drums and percussion.
