Somerset Barnard's rich, gritty voice and deep lyrical compositions are sending shivers down spines and leaving audiences yelling for more.
From the woolshed to the rolling shores of Australia's coastline, his evocative music traverses the landscape of this nation.
Sharing his time between the US and Australia, this young musician is making his mark on the Australian music scene, gigging each week around his base of Brisbane in Queensland and beyond.
Somerset successfully finished a 20-gig caravan of appearances from Maroochydore to Hobart late last year before performing at Tamworth Country Music Festival in January 2013.
His style has been likened to Johnny Cash, Jim Lauderdale and Merle Haggard with his look and honest lyrics harking back to 1950s southern America.
Listeners are stepping back in time with the pedal steel and Somerset's use of his guitar while remaining firmly in "today" with songs like Head For The Mines and Girls & Ganja, no Cocaine.
These singles from his debut album, Redemption, have been gaining rave reviews from broadcasters around the nation as well as a fast-growing fan base.
Signed to Brisbane independent label Race Café Records, Somerset has sold out of most of his stock of Redemption through gigs since the album's release late 2012.
He's an energetic musician, always writing and touring; he's been part of the ground-breaking international Balcony TV project and is busy working on his touring schedule for 2013 and 2014.
"His music harks back to early country music, he's good. This is great roots music," Strictly Country presenter Warren H Williams said.
