Police cordon off possible 9/11 debris in New York City

Police stand watch in front of a narrow alleyway in New York city.
They are guarding this - what is believed to be the remains of landing gear from one of the hijacked planes that crashed into the World Trade Center in 2011.
The gear was found wedged between two buildings in the lower Manhattan area.
Police say it's no surprise it took more than a decade to find since the alley way was so narrow.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) RAY KELLY, NEW YORK CITY POLICE COMMISSIONER, SAYING:
"If you see how confined this space is, you realize the chaos that existed down here on this street, I think it's understandable, it's not that surprising. Very, very confined and no construction work went on, or no clean-up went on, in this 18 inch (0.46 meters) space between the two buildings."
Officials say the gear has a Boeing identification number that is clearly visible, which will aid investigators in confirming its origins.
