Some 700 skiers and snowboarders attempted a new Guinness World Record in Siberia on Monday. People from all ages wearing bikinis and swimsuits skied downhill a 700-metre (765-yard) slope in the Sheregesh Ski Resort, in Novokuznetsk, Russia. To set a new record, 251 bikini-clad riders were needed.

Participants from the Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Krasnoyarsk districts helped set the new world record for bikini skiing. Despite of the bad weather forecast, the temperature hit 20 C (68 F) and the sun was shining. Later in the evening, a ski beauty contest was held, where judges evaluated the sport skills of the skiers during the bikini ride.

According to organisers of Monday's event, there is enough evidence in videos and pictures to submit them as proof of the record-breaking event to the Guinness committee for its consideration. The London-based committee will give its answer in three weeks time.
