At least 11 people were killed and 50 others injured after a hotel fire Sunday in central China's Hubei Province, local authorities said.

Local authorities said the fire broke out around 6:30 am in a hotel in the Fancheng District of the city of Xiangyang.

It took more than two hours to put out the flames, firefighters said.

The exact number of injuries has yet to be confirmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, local police said.
