Kerry seeks resolution as violence rages in Syria

A pro-government Syrian cleric is assassinated while speaking at a mosque in central Damascus March 21st.

In Homs, rebels battle with government forces in a conflict that has already killed more than 70,000 people.

The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry prepares to leave the Mideast for London where he will meet with opposition leaders.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY SAYING:

"We are left with no choice but to try to find ways to get him (Assad) to think differently about what lies in the future. That will be part of the discussion in London and in the ensuing weeks."

As the battle rages across the country the pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights is now accusing a rebel battalion in Aleppo of torturing civilians and extorting money from them.
