Newcastle Chronicle chief sports writer Lee Ryder says the Europa League clash with Benfica on Thursday night is a 'nice distraction' for Newcastle boss Alan Pardew given his side's struggles in the Premier League.
The Magpies, who have lost four of their last six league games and are sitting just three points above the relegation zone, take on a Benfica side which has not lost in 29 matches.
Ryder, speaking on Extra Time, said: "The Europa League is a nice distraction. But it will be a tough game."
