PRESENTED BY STEPHANIE ROBALINO

Julian Acosta was born in Queretaro Mexico in the summer of 1986, and immigrated to the United States from Mexico with his family. He grew up exploring Hunt, Texas, and that is where he began to play the guitar at age 15. He graduated high school at 17 and moved back to Mexico to attend college.

While studying International Business at Instituto Tecnologico De Monterrey, he continued to pursue his interest in music. He played with jam bands, started to develop his songwriting, and experimented with the heavy metal band, "Los Celticas", where he was the lead singer. One day during rehearsal, he walked out saying that Heavy Metal was too crazy for him. He then ventured into the instrumental band "Funk Trio" which was composed mainly by percussions, a bass guitar, and a lead guitar.

In the spring of 2007, he moved back to United Sates and transferred to The University of Texas at San Antonio. Julian attended classes and then would go back to his apartment to continue writing & learning music. He took his college money to pay for a music instructor then also learned to play ukulele and piano. He had several opportunities to perform on variety shows, festivals, & other shows, but he declined saying he wasn't ready. He continued to experiment with different bands playing local shows; from Spanish Rock to Folk. In the summer of 2009, Julian took a dramatic approach. He moved in with his family and lived in the basement his parent's house for an entire summer. He would wake up at 7am and then he would play or study music until midnight. He practiced song writing and general music theory.

After that summer and the start of the next semester, he began to focus on further developing his understanding of general enterprise. He recorded & produced what would become the EP " The Great Mix Tape" album; with songs "Feet in The Sand" & "Honey Bee". By the spring of 2012, he finished writing his set list and tested the waters as a solo artist. At an open mic at the university, he received compliments by the audience and gained enough support to encourage him to officially start his career.

He started working with Jambalaya Records as the label behind the music and with Prost Enterprises, LLC as the creative driver. He graduated in May 2012 and moved to Austin in the fall. After several interviews with musicians, Prost brought Julian together with Russ Patterson & Patrick Smith to compliment the set. In two months, they managed to climb the charts on Reverbnation, an online-based independent artist platform, to the 11th spot in the Austin Singer/songwriter category. Jambalaya Records & Prost collaborated together to create the Julian Acosta brand, & establish the band. They released the music video to "Feet in The Sand"; which has gained positive reviews.
