Komal Riaz Sheikh has just recently achieved an MSc in Child Clinical Psychology from Anglia Ruskin University, in Cambridge, UK. She has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. Komal is currently employed at Willing Ways as a Counselor and Clinical Psychologist, where her areas of interest are Dyslexia, Autism, Depression and the art of recognizing and dealing with various neurological disorders. She ponders over the impact of clinical psychology on daily life and takes great interest in the psychological measurement of perceived stress.

Komal has had significant experience in the field of psychological practice as she did a summer internship in the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Ward at Services Hospital, Lahore in 2009. For her final year at BNU, she conducted research case studies on several patients with various psychological disorders at Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
Komal’s extracurricular activities include dramatics, debates and badminton at the school level and she has been an active member of the girl’s cricket team at Anglia Ruskin University. She is an avid reader and enjoys watching foreign films.

Komal is very dedicated to her profession as a Psychologist as she believes in contributing to a healthier and more stable society. In Pakistan, terms such as ‘crazy’ or ‘mad’ are brandished with ease and Komal aims to improve people’s ever-increasing misconceptions towards mental health. Komal stresses on the dire need of awareness in Pakistan regarding psychological illness and stoutly believes in the philosophy of “Prevention rather than Cure”, especially in children.
