Queen Elizabeth leaves hospital after stomach complaint

Britain's Queen Elizabeth left a central London hospital Monday, one day after she was admitted with symptoms of the stomach flu.

The 86-year-old monarch was looking well and smiling as she said goodbye to hospital staff.

Palace officials said the Queen first developed symptoms of the stomach bug Friday and that the hospital visit was a precautionary measure.

But all of the Queen's engagements this week have been canceled or postponed because of her illness.

It is unusual for the monarch to cancel her engagements.

The head of state is known for her robust health and was last hospitalized in 2003 for knee surgery.
