Prof. Dr Abdul Malik Achakzai is one of the few qualified and practicing psychiatrists of the country. He has been an avid contributor of the field since over three decades now. He embarked upon his journey as a pioneer and faced widespread criticism and apprehension from a conservatism-stricken society. He is the holder of the highest award in psychiatry – MRCPsych – from the Royal College of psychiatry UK in 2004. Currently he is the member Federal Mental Health Authority, previously was the member executive committee Pakistan Medical & Dental Council.
His experience is not limited to clinical psychiatry; he is a faculty member and examiner at the college of Physicians and Surgery Pakistan. His achievements have been limitless. He has held the honor of being the chairperson of the Academic Council and principal of the Bolan Medical College. During his tenure as principal, he managed to get the medical university HEC recognition and the dental department PMDC accreditation.
Dr. Malik was selected for "Star Laureate 2007" for the prestigious national award of the Star Laureate in recognition of his credentials by the South Asian publications. His publications cover key topics such as social conflict, mental health, HIV and affective disorder. Moreover, he enjoys plenty of international experiences presenting papers, conducting seminars and playing participatory roles in psychiatric conferences in Nodeak Country that is Finland, Nederland, Europe i.e(Spain, Germany, France, Itlay, Turkey), United States of America, Canada,India, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Hong Kong .
The main filed of interest are comunity psychitry, child and adult psychiatry and substance abuse.His recent work is "Seroprevalences and Co-infections of HIV, hepatites C and hepatities B virus in injecting drug users of Quetta, Pakistan" published in Tropical Doctor 2007;37:43-45. His experience is spread across key national institutions/ set ups such as the Ministry of Health, Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, Drug Demand Reduction Authorities.

He has also served in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi in department of neuro psychitry and as Assistant Director medical.
