ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took inspiration from golden Byzantine mosaics for their shiny 2013-14 autumn-winter collection on Sunday (February 24).
The glamorous fashion duo, known for their style inspired by the Mediterranean culture, explored the dazzling artwork of the Cathedral of Monreale in Sicily for their A-shaped and hour-glass dresses in golden threads that emphasized artisanal work.
The mosaics returned in the accessories, including queen-style golden crowns encrusted with stones, gold bustiers and bags dedicated to saint Agata, the patron of the city of Catania, always in Sicily.
Some models wore more wearable outfits in wool and checked fabrics.
The grand finale was entirely made of red lace dresses -a Dolce & Gabbana must-have - with intricate embroideries and stones.
Shoes had filigree and inlaid-mosaic sculpted heels for a woman who loves to shine.
