STORY: Fashion Fringe winner Haizhen Wang finished London Fashion Week on Tuesday (February 19) with a collection of sharply tailored separates, draped dresses and quilted jackets in muted colours of jet black, charcoal grey, mauve and olive greens. The designer said his inspiration for his Autumn/Winter collection came from the architecture of gothic churches. Models were sent down the runway wearing felted wool, leather and herringbone patterns to create a mixture of hard and soft textures within his collection. Mentored by Burberry's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey, Wang follows in the footsteps of former Fashion Fringe winner Erdem Moralioğlu who has gone on to become a successful designer with international appeal, with women like Michelle Obama, and actress Michelle Williams wearing his designs. Fashion Fringe is a business award aimed at supporting and encouraging young designers, with part of the award being financial support and the opportunity to hold a catwalk show during London Fashion week.
