SHOTGUN TORI

PRESENTED BY ELLE FRANCO

'A little bit of folk; a little bit of country; a whole lot of raspy cut-to-the-heart feeling.' -- Rolling Stone

Rambling through the South African underground indie/folk scene, singer-songwriter, Shotgun Tori is starting to make a name for herself. A storyteller, her lyrics are dark and light, humorous and self-deprecating. Powerful vocals and jangly guitar, her music is in moments fun and upbeat, and in others gentle and heart-wrenching. (On a side note, her mother wishes that it was all gentle...)

'If we had to describe this woman's music, we'd say it's like a shot of rum in a hot chocolate! Yum.' -- Heat Magazine

With over 100 shows played countrywide in 2011, Shotgun Tori has a growing fan-base. The same year saw the release of her debut EP 'Are We Fine Yet' at the Alex Theatre in Braamfontein, as well as the launch of the music video for Sweet Weather (which reached No 1 on the MK89 Top 10 and stayed in the charts for 9 weeks). The same track reached No 2 on Jon Savages 5fm Chart Show.

Shotgun Tori has graced stages at music festivals across the country, most recently Oppikoppi 2012, with her true to life tales of heartbreak, humanness and the open road.

Her only real plan is to have adventures, live excellently, love big, tour the world and keep singing about it.

'One of the brighter lights in the, happily, burgeoning South African alt-folk scene, Shotgun Tori (aka Victoria Landey) is a passionate, convincing performer' -- The Citizen

'I get the feeling that when South Africa steps inside her world completely, none of us are going to want to leave anytime soon' -- athousandguitars.com
