Syria envoy Brahimi arrives in Syria

STORY: International peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi arrived in Syria on Sunday and is expected to meet President Bashar al-Assad later in the week, airport sources in Lebanon said.
The Damascus airport has been almost completely shut down due to fighting nearby between rebels and Assad's forces.
Rights groups say 44,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising erupted against Assad in March last year.
