Pakistani cricketers head to India for the first time in more than five years for a Christmas Day cricket match.

The country's Twenty20 team is going to Bangalore while its one day international team will leave for India on December 26.

Cricket matches between the neighbours came to a halt after gunmen attacked two upmarket hotels, a busy railway terminal and a fashionable café in Mumbai in 2008.

India blamed Pakistan-based militarnts for the deadly attacks which left a total of 166 people dead.

The fierce rivalry on the field has often spilled over into real life with the two countres fighting three wars in the past 65 years.

The last cricket series between the two was Pakistan's tour of India in 2007.
