American actress Jane Fonda is turning 75 on Friday, December 21.

The Hollywood star, who won Oscars for her roles as Bree Daniels in "Klute" and Sally Hyde in "Coming Home", has most recently appeared in the new HBO series "The Newsroom" where she plays CEO Leona Lansing, whose company owns the fictional ACN news network.

Fonda is a strong supporter of feminist causes and is well-known for her political activism.

She was a vocal opponent of major U.S. wars such as the Vietnam war, and more recently the military conflict in Iraq.

Her birthday is on the last day of the Mayan calendar that according to some perdicts the end of the world.

But Fonda doesn't seem too nervous about the doomsday theory as she recently told U.S. TV host Jimmy Kimmel that it's believed to be a day when cosmic paradigms shift and all things get better.
