'The Night Johnny Cash Played San Quentin' is an original song by Dean Owens that seamlessly evokes the spirit of Cash at his legendary peak.
The album isn’t a simple re-tread of cover versions of Cash songs. A number of the songs on the album were written by others, but Cash brought then to life in his own style. Owens is not a ‘tribute act’ – his recording career began in the acclaimed band ‘The Felsons’ before going solo in 2001. There have been 4 studio albums of his own material in the last decade. This is a special project for Dean. A labour of love.
