Richard Gere tackles Wall Street

Although hedge fund drama "Arbitrage" was released in U.S. theaters three months ago, its star Richard Gere is promoting the film now -- in the hopes that more people will see it during awards season.

"I care for the film, most of all. If Nick gets attention for his script, Nick Jarecki who wrote and directed this really wonderful, wonderful script, if we get attention and I don't know who else, Nate (Parker) and Susan (Sarandon), I mean it really helps the movie. The point being, I like the movie a lot. I think we're all really proud of it. Of course we'd like the maximum number of people to see it."
The movie recalls the real-life scandals of high-flying bankers who made headlines during the recent financial crisis.
While the public may be hungry to watch the downfall of a greedy banker, Gere says fictional billionaire Robert Miller is not an all out bad guy.

"I think it was more interesting to show, not a villain in the traditional sense of a cartoon villain, but someone who we could recognize and maybe peel the onion."
The film has been available through video-on-demand and in limited U.S. theaters since September - and will be released on DVD on December 21st.
