Tens of thousands of Shi'ite Muslims took part in a funeral procession on Thursday (November 29) for three Shi'ite men who were killed in a bomb attack in Sanaa.

Saturday's (November 24) attack targeted the first public commemoration of the anniversary of the death of a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad in the Yemeni capital in half a century.

People carried the coffins of the three men killed from a mosque in al-Jeraf neighbourhood where the attack took place as well as large banners with their pictures. Others held banners blaming America for the violence, with one reading: "America will not succeed in instilling sectarian violence through such bombings."

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but al Qaeda and its affiliates, comprising Sunni Muslim militants, have targeted Shi'ites in the past.
